The Christmas Journey

So, First Baptist Church in McKinney puts on this huge production called the Christmas Journey. It is all live with live animals and people acting out the life of Christ. We rode on the hayride this year and it was really amazing. Enjoy the ride with us...

An angel appears to Mary to tell her that she would give birth to the Son of God....
people travel to Bethlehem....
In Bethlehem...
trying to find a place to stay...
Angel appearing to the shepherds
Wise men wondering about the star in the East...
Baby Jesus born....yes, it was a real baby.
Jesus as a child working with his dad in the carpentry shop.
the devil tempting Jesus....
Jesus brings a girl back to life and heals a bunch of people.
the last supper
the garden
standing before Pilate and sentenced to death
on the cross....beautiful isn't it?
the empty tomb...PRAISE THE LORD!!
They played a cd to introduce each segment of the journey....but the actors talked and acted it out too...it was amazing and a great reminder of what this season is all about....if it weren't for the birth, there never would have been the death and resurrection, and we would be doomed....THANK YOU GOD FOR SENDING YOUR SON!!!

Advent calendar fun.....all in one

So, we have been very busy this month....after our Christmas craft we had berrilicious night (frozen yogurt place), fun with dad (mom played bunco w/friends), pictures with Santa, go shopping for each other, going away party for friends leaving, Chloe's choice for dinner (pb&j), happy birthday Jesus party, and here are the ones that I took pictures of....

Here is our best attempt at a family picture for mom's wall.. I think I am going to try again, it looks like the corner where Keira is is foggy or too bright...any ideas on how to fix that? otherwise, it is the best one so far....
We had our neighborhood dinner party and it was quite fun. It started at our house with craft and appetizers, then on to the Dodson's for main course and finished at the Sim's for dessert and book exchange. I had my camera at home, but didn't take it to the other places...
We also decorated gingerbread cookies, now if I was a really awesome mom, I would have made the cookies myself, however, I took the easy way out and they didn't know the difference (probably cuz I have NEVER made the cookies...), they had fun and the cookies turned out really cute...not edible, but cute.

I do however, make sugar cookies and this year, I made WAY too many...well over 200. We took some to school, took some to our friends, sent some to the Salvation Army for the homeless Christmas dinner, ate too many, took some to Awanas, anyway, they turned out cute and the kids had fun making and decorating them.

This is a busy week for us too, so hopefully the camera will be clicking and I can give you a taste of life in the Lunn house at Christmas time :) I do have another post about my favorite activity we did, I think you will like it too.....the Christmas Journey...coming soon!

Advent Calendar day 6 and 7

So day 3 was Grandpa and Grandma time, Day 4 was Caleb's choice for dinner (pancakes and eggs), Day 5 we went shopping for the family we adopted for Christmas. Our Sunday School adopted a family of 6 and we adopted a 1st grader from Caleb's school, so we shopped for them on Sunday afternoon. Which brings me to day 6, game night. We had Grandpa and Grandma over for dinner, so they stayed and played a game of UNO with us. I was the lucky winner. The game takes a lot longer when you have so many people playing, but it was fun and everyone had a good time.

After Grandpa and Grandma left, we played a game of wii bowling....wow, I used to be good at that, but not so much anymore. Chloe was the big surprise....
Chloe almost beat all of us, Josh got first, then Chloe, followed by me and Caleb.....yeah, I know Caleb doesn't quite look like himself...he chose to be Sonic, the character that he created....that is all I will say about that.
tonight was a night.....craft night was our advent activity...however, I would like to share with you what happened earlier in the night. Partly because I don't want to forget, but also because it will be funny...someday...For starters, I was cold, so I put the tea kettle on to boil some water for hot cocoa....I was reading Caleb's Awana memory verse to him and at the same time, leaning against the stove to warm my back....yeah....well, it got a little warm and I realized that I was on fire....I said, "oh crap, am I on fire?" and Caleb says, "YES!!! STOP DROP AND ROLL MOM!!!!"...I didn't stop drop and roll as I thought the tile might not help much...although I did seriously consider it. I do consider myself quite lucky to have put two shirts on as I completely ruined the top shirt and the under shirt is completely fine...I tore the top shirt off and threw it on the floor where it went out....I am sure my kids had no idea what do think of their crazy mom...After that, Caleb and his dad left for swim practice and the girls and I were getting ready to make pizzas for dinner. Well, it got really quiet...and when Keira is quiet, you better get to her quickly, well....not so lucky this time. Let me preface by saying I love my daughter very much....but tonight I didn't like her so much....we (Chloe and I) found her in her bedroom completely covered in an entire tube of lipstick, not light pink, dark red...yep...that stuff doesn't come out..of the carpet...so now I have a HUGE red spot on the carpet in her bedroom which matches the other lipstick marks she has previously made....okay, so you would think that I would have hid all these things from her right? I did...took all the play lipstick and chapstick and lipgloss all out of her reach....except for the one in my purse, yeah that's right, the one I never wear, the one that hasn't been used in years, I DON'T WEAR LIPSTICK, yet that is the one she dug through my purse to find and completely destroyed her carpet. I put her in the tub and had to clean the tub of the red ring that the water left after it drained...I am sure you are wondering why I didn't take a picture...because it was cute when they didn't know better, but this girl, she is smart and she knows better....Anyway, we had dinner then we did our craft...and it was a sweet time that we had at our kitchen table for about an hour.

I bought these ornaments for them to color....

How can you be mad at that face????? not too hard, trust me.
Then we made bell ornaments which were a little more difficult, but they did great...and they turned out pretty cute too :)

The finished product....not bad, eh?

okay, the day is over, and I am praying that tomorrow will be much less eventful....I made some crock pot oatmeal that I can't wait to wake up and eat....yum.....

Advent calendar activity

So we started our annual advent calendar yesterday and it was pretty uneventful. It was daddy's turn to choose what he wanted for dinner.....beef stroganoff.....needless to say, no pictures were taken of that....although it was pretty good. Today (the 2nd of December) we went to the grass maze and played tag. The kids had a blast. Chloe is standing in front of a HUGE tree that has a light show to music once every hour. We took a few pictures there before we went to the maze.

Inside the grass maze park is a train car that the kids like to play in. It is actually a birthday party place, but the kids play in it when there are no birthday parties going on...
Dad and the kids played tag for quite awhile....

No, her nose is not running, I put some aquaphor on her face before we left and it shows up shiny in pictures....
Self portrait of the family....they are the ones that always turn out best....go figure...
December 3rd, Grandpa and Grandma are babysitting, so they get Grandpa and Grandma time for their advent calendar. Mom and Dad are going to a Christmas party...wonder who will have more fun...up for debate I am sure. Have a great December, we are sure to!
