The Cosmos

The strangest sensations happened here at the cosmos.  I am not even sure I can describe what you felt as you walked through this house on a mountain. I think it was on just the right angle or the walls were just enough crooked to make you feel all out of balance, I actually thought I was going to pass out.  It was cool and freaky all in one. The kids thought it was neat, so I guess that is what was important.

his legs involuntarily just went that way while he did a pull up.  Mine did the same thing...

This is Greg and Carrie, our other friends who came camping with us, they are standing on level surfaces and they are supposed to be level with each other, but clearly they are not...
 switch spots, and they are....CRAZY!!
Drew was chosen to try and get this tennis ball to roll down the slope, but he couldn't it totally rolled uphill...water ran uphill too...

Caleb was chosen to sit on the wall, he thought it was awesome and confusing at the same time.
What fun!!!

Bear Country

Bear Country = Super Cool
I'm telling you, this has got to have been the best vacation ever so far.  We had so much fun looking at the animals in their natural habitat...by far the coolest "zoo" experience...

Bears...all different sizes and colors, just walking around not at all bothered by the countless number of people staring at them.  They were so close to our car as you can see by the third picture.  There was always a little part of me that worried that one of them might just be sick of people taking their pictures and take it out on our car....thankfully, that didn't happen.

After driving through Bear Country, we checked out the baby bears and had a picnic lunch,, love this picture of Keira....just so darn cute!!

Bee sting....boo

LOVED this day!

Custer State Park

Custer State Park was cool.  We started out on a Wildlife tour expecting to see a few buffalo, but we were blown away by the number of buffalo there actually were... we had to drive really slow because the buffalo were crossing the road, people were taking pictures (us included), and no one was in a hurry.  It was neat to see the two male buffalo fight over a girl I am sure....they were so close to our car, we could have reached out and touched them....

 Rearview mirror view....
After the buffalo, we came across some very sweet donkeys, very gentle and hungry.  The girls loved touching and petting them.  We were on our way to a picnic at the lake, so we had some chips and carrots to feed them...they really liked the carrots.
We had a picnic lunch, then headed to the beach and went swimming.  The kids had fun playing with their friends and in the sand.

There were these buffalo all over town, so we had to stop on our way back to the campsite to get a picture.
another great day on vacation!

Mt. Rushmore

So, I totally loaded the pictures backwards, so this is our day in reverse.  We started out at Mt. Rushmore, and ended up at these caves.  Mt. Rushmore was very hot and the kids were not near as excited as the adults were, but oh well, the caves were cool - the temperature was in the 50's and the caves were cool to look at.  There were a lot of formations and the kids really enjoyed it.  When Caleb is old enough, he wants to come back and do the extreme tour where you crawl and are in tight quarters....

So, here is our friends Michael and Mandy and their crew - Drew, Noah, Isaac, and Lindley.  We had a great day with them seeing the sights.
Mt. Rushmore - so cool....again,  I think that I was more excited than the kids....
This was the entrance there was a flag for every state, the kids had fun finding the Colorado state flag.
Just in case you missed it the first time....
Getting a piggy back ride from dad
This was a teepee that the kids were allowed to check out...they thought that was pretty cool.  This was all before they got hot and started to complain...
An amazing memory....never to be forgotten :)
